WPT Cyprus Championship Reaches Final Six
Bernardo Miguel Baptista Das Neves bowed out in seventh, and the top prize includes a $10,400 seat to the WPT World Championship
The World Poker Tour’s live updates showed the WPT Cyprus Championship Main Event down to seven players as Level 29 began at 75,000-150,000 with a 150,000 ante. The field had drawn 520 entries, the average stack was about 3,725,000, or 25 big blinds, and everyone left was locked for at least $56,500.
As covered in our earlier report, the event had already reached the final nine before play tightened again. Bernardo Miguel Baptista Das Neves went out in seventh for $56,500, setting the final-six lineup for the WPT Final Table. The final table was scheduled for 12:00 noon local time, with the live stream set for 12:30 pm on a 30-minute delay.
Mihai Trofim led the six finalists with 6,225,000 chips. The rest of the lineup was Weiran Pu on 3,800,000, Chadi Rizk on 5,650,000, Sami Ayyoub on 3,650,000, Farbod Nazari on 5,275,000, and Sergiu Cornea on 1,325,000.
The listed payouts put $368,900 and a $10,400 seat into the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas on top of first place. Second paid $238,000, third $175,000, fourth $130,000, fifth $97,000, sixth $73,000, and seventh $56,500.
Earlier coverage from Somuchpoker placed the $3,500 championship in the broader WPT Cyprus series at the Chamada Prestige Hotel and Casino in Cyprus, with the series running Aug. 12-24. It said the championship began on Aug. 19 across three starting flights, carried a $2 million guarantee, and hit the money bubble when Emad Ghadamian became the bubble boy.
