WPT Cyprus Championship Reaches Final Nine
Sami Ayyoub led the last-table draw after Irfan Vurucu busted in 10th, while WPT updates differed on whether play would stop at six or seat the full final nine.
The WPT Cyprus Championship reached its late stages with 10 players left as Level 27 began, and then Irfan Vurucu was eliminated in 10th place to leave a final nine. The remaining players were on 50,000-100,000 blinds with a 100,000 ante, the average stack was about 2.6 million chips, or 26 big blinds, and every survivor had locked up at least $36,000.
The World Poker Tour’s live updates were not fully aligned on what came next. One update said the field would keep playing one-hour levels until six players remained, while another said the final nine would redraw for random seats and resume in about 10 to 15 minutes.
Sami Ayyoub entered the final stretch as chip leader with 5.175 million. The rest of the table was Weiran Pu on 2.075 million, Chadi Rizk on 3.7 million, Bernardo Miguel Baptista Das Neves on 1.825 million, Rayan El Jawhari on 2.925 million, Mihai Trofim on 2.875 million, Nariman Yaghmai on 800,000, Farbod Nazari on 4.875 million and Sergiu Cornea on 1.675 million.
The payout ladder was already set. First place was worth $368,900, and that includes a $10,400 entry into the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. Second through ninth paid $238,000, $175,000, $130,000, $97,000, $73,000, $56,500, $44,000 and $36,000, while 10th also earned $36,000.
As reported after Day 2, Niko Koop led 45 players in a field of 520, with the event’s $2 million prize pool worth exactly $2,000,000. That earlier stage showed how quickly the $3,500 buy-in Championship had moved from a large opening field into the final-table race.
