Adam Hahn Wins RGPS Dallas Main Event
The Dallas-area player beat 1,058 entries at Palace Poker, earned $91,456 and picked up his first RunGood ring.
Adam Hahn won the RGPS Golden Expedition Dallas $600 Main Event at Palace Poker, beating 1,058 entries for $91,456 and his first RunGood ring. The stop was scheduled for Aug. 13-23 at Palace Poker in Grand Prairie, Texas, and the eight starting flights helped lift the prize pool to $529,000, well past the $200,000 guarantee.
According to PokerNews, Hahn beat Jason Fitzpatrick heads-up. The event page said the tournament ended after four days, and as covered earlier in the week, the final table had already been down to four-handed play, with Jeremy Marrero exiting in fourth and the chip lead swinging among Hahn, Fitzpatrick and Simon Webster.
Hahn said he had been away from serious tournament poker for about 10 years before getting back in the game, after focusing on work, life and his kids. He said a couple of days off earlier this month gave him the chance to take a shot, and he had already finished runner-up in Houston earlier in August.
The late stages turned on a series of key pots. The event page described a "Hahn Hits the River" hand where he made a straight on the 5♦ to regain the lead, another spot where he doubled against Fitzpatrick’s jacks, and a hand where Fitzpatrick coolered him with a full house before Hahn won a pot with Q♣4♦ to start heads-up play with the edge.
The title ended with Fitzpatrick holding A♣7♣ against Hahn’s A♦9♣ and failing to improve. Fitzpatrick took second for $56,532, and Hahn also won the PLO high-hand flip for the last nine players, which added a $2,000 RunGood in Aruba travel package. Hahn said he was excited to use the trip at the Caribbean Poker Series event next month.
