BetMGM Poker Posts $6 Million Borgata Series
The Big, Big lineup pairs a $3 million championship with a $1 million Kick Off, mixed games and high-buy-in side events.
BetMGM Poker has put the Big, Big Series on the calendar at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, with more than $6 million in guaranteed prize pools and a $5,300 Championship that carries $3 million guaranteed. In BetMGM Poker’s blog, the series is framed as a live tournament set “for players, by players,” and it is described as a celebration of the one-year anniversary of the BetMGM Poker Tournament Room at Borgata.
As covered in July, BetMGM Poker also powered Borgata’s Summer Poker Open, which ran with more than $4 million in guarantees. The new promotion is presented a little differently across the posted materials: the blog calls it a 10-day series from Sept. 13-22, while the event schedule keeps the Championship running into Sept. 23.
The Championship is the clear centerpiece. It starts with Day 1A on Sept. 19 at 12:15 p.m., followed by Day 1B on Sept. 20 and Day 1C on Sept. 21 at the same time. Survivors return for Day 2 on Sept. 22, registration stays open until the start of Day 2, and the event is scheduled to play into Day 3 on Sept. 23.
Before that, the $2,200 Big, Big Kick Off brings the festival’s first seven-figure guarantee. It has $1 million guaranteed and two starting flights on Sept. 14 at 11:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., with players who survive either flight coming back the following afternoon to play for the prize pool.
The lineup also reaches beyond the main hold’em events. The schedule includes the $1,100 Big, Big Welcome: H.O.R.S.E. on Sept. 13 with a $25,000 guarantee, two days later E-Tay’s $2,500 Big, Big 9 Game Mix with $150,000 guaranteed, and the $2,200 Big, Big Pot Limit Omaha (8 Max) on Sept. 18 with a $200,000 guarantee.
Higher-roller action is built in as well. The $10,200 Big, Big Baller has a $500,000 guarantee and its entry fee covered by BetMGM Poker, while the $2,200 Big, Big Borgata Mystery Bounty also guarantees $500,000. The schedule adds a $1,100 Big, Big One Day: Bankroll Builder with a $100,000 guarantee, a $1,100 Shot Clock Turbo with another $100,000, and the $5,100 Big, Big BetMGM Series Saver Survivor plus the $1,100 Big, Big Bye Finale on Sept. 22.
Players can also qualify into the schedule in several ways. BetMGM Poker says online qualifiers run from Aug. 18 through Sept. 16 for players in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with additional qualifiers Sept. 17-20 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Borgata is also offering a Big, Big Stay & Play Bonus, which packages 10 nights for $999 plus tax and resort fees, with Gold+ MGM Rewards members getting the resort fees waived, and the offer must be booked by Aug. 29 using code BIGBIG while supplies last.
