RGPS Thunder Valley Main Event Opens Final Day With 108 Left

Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s RGPS Passport Season Finale $1,200 Million Dollar Main Event reached championship day with 108 players left from a field of 1,086 entries. The event had built a $1,140,300 prize pool, and the winner was set to collect $163,700.
PokerNews reported that Randy Gil led the remaining field with 1,061,000 chips. Douglas Dossett was right behind Gil with 1,054,000, and Michael Cervantes sat third with 1,012,000. Jay Kasler was also in the top group as the fourth player in the millionaire’s club when Day 2 began.
Day 2 started at 12 p.m. local time and was set to play eight-handed. A shot clock was in effect, with players receiving five time banks at the start of the day and five more when the final table began.
The last wave into Day 2 came through Day 1d, the second-to-last chance for players to advance. That flight drew 434 entries and sent 43 players through, while the turbo flight added 65 entries and seven more survivors. Across the five flights, the finale’s Day 2 players emerged from the 1,086-entry total.
Gil had already been the Day 1d chip leader and was chasing the second RGPS ring of his career. The earlier recap said he already had one ring and 20 cashes on his record.
Dossett came into championship day after winning the $300 Knockout with $100 Bounties event, his first RGPS title, and he was looking to double up in the same series. Cervantes still had not won an RGPS title, though he had taken second in the Buffaloooo PKO Event in 2024 for $14,435.
Kasler had previously finished fifth in the 30/30/30 event at the Passport finale, and a win would more than triple his just-over-$60,000 in career earnings, according to The Hendon Mob. Other names in the mix included Samuel Panzica, who had nearly $5 million in live earnings but no RGPS ring, and Toan Nguyen, a former RGPS Reno Grand Prix Main Event champion with more than $230,000 in RunGood earnings. Tyler Patterson also missed the cut and could not try to repeat at Thunder Valley.
