Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow Just Misses Out on His Fifth WSOP Bracelet

Matusow came within inches of claiming a WSOP gold but couldn't get over the last obstacle between him and his fifth bracelet.

It has been ten long years since Mike Matusow captured his last bracelet, and it seemed like Lady Luck was finally ready to smile upon ‘The Mouth’ as he found himself just one opponent away from taking down a $1500 Stud8 event at the 2023 WSOP.

The win would have brought Matusow’s total bracelet count to five and probably increase his chances of being inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame this year.

Emotions were high as Mike sat down across Marcin Horecki of Poland for the final skirmish, but it seems that all the pressure got to Matusow despite his immense experience on the circuit, and he couldn’t close the deal.

‘The Mouth’ was clearly disappointed by the close call, despite of pocketing over $95,000 for his runner-up finish — a very respectable prize for a $1500 tournament. Horecki, on the other hand, was over the moon, as this wasn’t just the first bracelet for him, but it is the first WSOP bracelet for Poland.

Is this the start of a comeback for Mike Matusow? Will he manage to finally capture another bracelet before the 2023 WSOP is over? Only time will tell, but you can make sure you aren’t missing out on any of the big moments by signing up for PokerGO and enjoying extensive day-to-day coverage of this year’s World Series.
