WPT Global Sets ¥9 Mystery Bounty With ¥1 Million Guarantee
The Aug. 1 event caps entries at 30,000, creating a built-in ¥760,000 overlay and a ¥200,000 top bounty.
WPT Global is putting a ¥9 Mystery Bounty event on the schedule for Saturday, Aug. 1 at 01:00 pm UTC, with a ¥1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. The Special Edition Mystery Bounty is open to all WPT Global players.
According to pokerfuse, the event is capped at 30,000 entries, which creates a built-in ¥760,000 overlay. At that cap, the most the field can contribute is ¥240,000, or ¥8 per entry, so the operator has to make up at least ¥760,000 to hit the guarantee.
The event also carries a ¥200,000 first-place prize and a ¥200,000 top Mystery Bounty. The tiny buy-in makes it a shot at a very large return, with the top bounty and the winner’s prize both set at roughly $30,000.
The Special Edition Mystery Bounty is being presented as part of the ongoing ¥200,000,000 guaranteed WPT Asia Series Overdrive festival. The series kicked off on July 19, with events running every day until Aug. 30 and special WPT Ring events on weekends.
The Asia-series branding has already been used for a broader run of online festival events. WPT Global said the WPT Asia Series launched as a new online festival built around Asia-friendly time zones and Ring championship events, running from Feb. 15 to March 15 with more than 100 events and ¥100,000,000 in combined guarantees.
That earlier series also included weekly Mystery Bounty Main Events under the WPT Myster¥ Millions banner. In March, WPT Asia Mystery Millions was running as a weekly flagship at a ¥188 buy-in with a ¥2,000,000 guarantee, using repeated Day 1 flights and a Saturday Day 2 finale.
WPT Global’s own blog described WPT Asia MYSTER¥ Millions as a recurring, phase-based Mystery Bounty format, with players able to take multiple shots across the week and carry qualifying stacks forward into Day 2.
