Jesse Lonis Wins GOPC High Roller for $153,000
The $5,000 event drew 83 players and featured Seth Davies, Bencb and Patrick Leonard.
Jesse Lonis won one of the first High Roller events in CoinPoker’s Global Online Poker Championship, beating an 83-player field in the $5,000 buy-in for $153,000. PokerStrategy.com reported the result and said the table included Seth Davies, Bencb, Patrick Leonard, PapoMC and online cash-game regular DavyJones.
As reported earlier in August, CoinPoker had already launched the GOPC as a $50 million series running through Sept. 28. The win landed just a day after the championship began, so Lonis scored right as the new online festival got moving.
CoinPoker’s schedule page says the GOPC is built around more than 700 medal events and that winners receive Gold Medals, with silver and bronze medals going to other top finishers. The site says Gold Medals are physical trophies with matching digital versions in a Trophy Cabinet, while silver and bronze are digital awards.
The same schedule puts $4.25 million in guarantees across three Main Event tiers. Those include the $530 Main Event at $3 million guaranteed, the $55 Global Main at $1 million, and the $11 Global Mini Main at $250,000.
Lonis is no stranger to big buy-ins. PokerStrategy.com described him as one of the most successful young players on the high-roller circuit, saying he has almost $33 million in live tournament cashes, eight high roller titles last year and two WSOP bracelets, including one won in an online event in 2022. The GOPC’s $25,500 Super High Roller Championship is scheduled for Sept. 22 with a $1 million guarantee.
