Rami Hammoud Falls in Sixth at the WSOP Main Event
A preflop setback left him short, and Lucas Jumalon finished the job with A♥5♥ against Q♥J♠.
Rami Hammoud was eliminated in sixth place in the 2026 WSOP Main Event for $1,750,000, at the hands of Lucas Jumalon on Day 10 of the final table.
PokerNews traced Hammoud’s path to that finish back to his pre-tournament life and early run in the event. He had grown up watching the Main Event on television, left his old job on June 19, and was planning to start a new one around July 20. He entered Day 1c only 2,000 chips above his starting stack.
The climb accelerated on Day 6, when he ran his stack from 2.63 million to 17.4 million and cracked Darren Rabinowitz’s ace-king with ace-jack. With 62 players left, he bagged the sixth-largest stack, then finished Day 7 second in chips.
That put him in strong shape at the final table. He started there second in chips behind Jumalon, and he already had at least $1 million locked up as a finalist.
The field had been trimmed from 9,208 entries over 10 days of poker, and by the end of Day 10 only two players remained, both chasing the $10 million top prize and the Main Event banner. Jumalon had been the chip leader since the start of the final table and stayed in control as the table narrowed.
Before the bustout, Hammoud’s stack had already been hit hard by a preflop flip against Greg Mueller. Card Player reported that he then raised to 12.5 million from a 16.5 million stack with Q♥J♠, Jumalon called with A♥5♥, and the flop came 8♠6♠2♠ to give Hammoud a flush draw and live overcards.
Hammoud got the rest in, the 2♣ turn paired the board, and the 4♥ river missed him. He was sent home in sixth, while Jumalon moved on with 316 million at the end of Day 10 and 328 million entering heads-up play.
Afterward, Hammoud said it was sad in the moment, but that he would look back on it with pride and remember making $1.75 million.
