Sam Soverel has claimed PGT Sprint Event No. 5, beating David Coleman heads-up to win $195,200 and secure a record-extending 18th PokerGO Tour title. The $10,500 no-limit hold’em tournament was Soverel’s fifth PGT victory of 2026.

The event drew 61 entries and created a $610,000 prize pool, with nine players paid. Coleman earned $122,000 for second place after Soverel began their heads-up match with a 4:1 chip advantage.

The contest ended on the second heads-up hand. Coleman held A-10 against Soverel’s 8-7, but a seven on the river gave Soverel the winning pair.

Jeremy Becker finished fifth for $45,750 after Soverel made a flush on the river against Becker’s top pair, top kicker. Kuan Han Lee took third for $85,400, while Nick Seward earned $61,000 in fourth.

As we reported in October, Soverel’s 17th PGT title came in the PGT PLO Series mystery bounty event. This latest result added 195 PGT leaderboard points and moved him into eighth place in the 2026 standings.

Card Player reported that Soverel now has more than $1.7 million in high-stakes-tour earnings from 22 cashes this year. The win also delivered 360 Card Player Player of the Year points, lifting his total to 2,912 from 10 qualifying final tables.

PGT Sprint events are single-day tournaments held at PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The season’s top 40 players on the PGT leaderboard, along with some dream-seat winners, are eligible for the $500,000 PGT Championship, which is set for Jan. 11-12, 2027.
